General requirements

Those who want to study at the Bulgarian Theological College must fulfill two types of requirements connected with their academic status and their Christian life and ministry.
The academic requirements are as follows:

  1. A high school diploma and/or higher education diploma (bachelor and/ or master degree)
  2. Student Transcript/s
  3. The grades from the entrance exams at the Theological College. There are two exams – one is on Bulgarian language skills, and the other is a biblical knowledge test.

 The spiritual criteria are based on the following filled out forms and an oral interview:

  1. Application form
  2. Recommendation by local pastor and/or regional bishop
  3. Recommendation by a friend, coworker, or spiritual advisor (not a relative of the applicant)
  4. Oral interview by a committee from the administration of the college

 The deadline for turning in the application forms together with all additional documents is July 1. The exams are usually help at the end of the month of July.
The students who are accepted to study at the Theological College, but have not applied for scholarship, must pray a tuition fee of 30 lv. per semester, as well as 8 lv. per credit hour.

Scholarship Requirements

The requirements of the Governing Board of the Bulgarian Theological College are that scholarships should be granted only to students who are members of the Church of God in Bulgaria, since the College is operating under the auspices of the international Church of God. However, the College is open to people of all religious, social and ethnic backgrounds, as long as they pass the exams and follow the guidelines for study and moral conduct.

Each year the Board of the Bulgarian Theological College approves the application of 10-15 students to receive full scholarship. This scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, and basic living expenses during the school months.

The students, who would like to apply for a scholarship, must fulfill the following criteria:

  • They should be active members of the Church of God in Bulgaria.
  • They should have a recommendation by their local pastor and the regional bishop of their region, as well as a recommendation by a friend or spiritual advisor.
  • They should have good grades on their entrance exams as well as their high school GPA.
  • They should be able to explain clearly what is their current ministry and spiritual wellbeing, as well as their ministerial plans for the future.
  • They should present the history of their Christian journey to the examining committee.
  • They should be able to clarify their motivation to study at the College and to agree.
  •  They should officially agree and sign a document that they will serve within the Church of God denomination at least three (3) years after their graduation.
