From the fall of communism in 1989 until today Bulgaria has experienced vast transformations in every layer of its social, political, economic and spiritual nature.  Year after year the Bulgarian society has been bombarded with new challenges that have questioned the existential foundation, upon which the Bulgarian culture and mentality was built.  The evangelical churches could not escape the wave of change that ensued. And today - 18 years after the downfall of communism, the churches are struggling with fundamental issues such as what type of church leadership to embrace, what is their identity and how to present it to the surrounding society, what is their role as Christians in this new world, how to respond to the needs of society, and, ultimately, how to survive as a religious minority.

Ever since its establishment in 1997 the Bulgarian Theological College has followed the vision, which was given by God to its founder – to bring small lights everywhere in the spiritual darkness and confusion in our country. In the past 10 years the Bulgarian Theological College has followed a strict line of course – to train and disciple man and women of God and to prepare them for ministry.  Our goal today continues to be the same - to prepare those in the classroom for the reality of life in society and ministry in the local churches. God has given us numerous practical and creative opportunities to accomplish His vision – we are associated with church related and social ministries, which provide our students with the opportunity to sharpen their skills and to learn in real ministry environments.

Of course, this is not accomplished at the expense of excellent and uncompromised theological education. Our faculty provides highly qualified theological educators from Bulgaria and abroad.  Additionally, the educational process is carefully supervised and administered by an excellent team, always ready to provide assistance and support to every student. 

We realize the heavy responsibility that God has bestowed upon us - to nurture and raise the next generation of Christian leaders. This is why every member of the team of the Bulgarian Theological College is committed to use time, energy and resources to accomplish this goal.
